7.Is the world radically different from how it appears to be Explicate and assess Russells arguments for the distinction between appearance and reality, in Chapters 1 and 3 of his Problems of Philosophy - Essay ExampleTo him, it is essential to clarify first, if there is an immaterial physical world, or is the world known merely an orderly confederacy of concepts and ideas and secondly, the quality of knowledge held about the physical object. In this paper, we aim to provide a concise exploration of Russells ideas about reality and perception by going through his process of knowing, and the issues surrounding the authenticity of human aw atomic number 18ness. Then, we assess his ideas by evaluating the strength of its logic from the metaphysical point-of-view.The self is able to connect with the external world through the senses. Knowledge, in this regard, starts with the experience of a physical object through seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, or touching. What is obtained about the object is called sense-data, and what allows for the capturing of these data is called sensation. For example, in the selfs experience of an apple, its redness and smoothness are regarded to be the sense-data which are captured through sensationby seeing and touching.Through this thinking, it can be further give tongue to that the mere presence of the physical object in the external world allows for the emergence of these sense-data, for if there is no apple to begin with, there would not be any redness or smoothness identified. Therefore, the process of knowing clearly distinguishes perception and reality. In the context of seeing and touching an apple, what appears to be the apple and its features are clearly separate from what the real apple is and its features.Building on the previous discussion, it can be said that the fundamental differences between perception and reality apply led to the development of two critical issues (1) the questioning of reality and (2) the questi oning of the truths obtained about the physical object. In expounding on these issues, we intend to establish, first

This literature review seeks to describe, summarize, evaluate, clarify or integrate the content of primary reports.Wh en we are dealing with the care of those who have experienced Percutaneous Corornary Intervention (PCI) and other cardiac rehabilitation procedures, we find it necessary to discuss how much bed rest is needed as to ensure the path to recovery and health of the patient. The main disadvantage of PTCA as compared to open heart surgery... and the associated post-procedure anticoagulation therapy require remaining in a unerect position and long bed rest which took almost 24 hours post procedure. A study by Gulanick and colleagues (1997) detailed the angioplasty experience of patients. By conducting focus-group interviews on 45 patients, they were able to bound the feedback regarding hospital experience, home recovery process, restenosis concerns, need for health information, facilitators/barriers for reductions of venture factors and suggestions for nursing interventions to facilitate recovery. What they found out to be the most pressing concern was the back and leg discomfort from rem aining in a supine position for too long. The participants suggested many nursing interventions such as bed exercise, use of an air mattress, back rubs and early walking.2.3 Length of Bed RestThere have been several studies conducted on how to lessen the discomforts regarding bed rest. Vaught and Ostrow (2000) provided a thorough overview of past studies regarding this concern in their article Bed rest after transdermal transluminal coronary angioplasty How much is enough As this is the case, we mention some of the studies that were discussed in the article. Coral Reefs in the Philippines and the trophic levels and organism Research Paper - 1
Coral Reefs in the Philippines and the trophic levels and organism localization and interaction specific to this area - Research Paper ExampleMoreover, they ply food security and livelihoods to people in the country. However, the stability of reefs in the region is under threats. This has occurred due to destructive fishing methods and overuse of resources (Unico Conservation Foundation, 2012). The threat in this ecosystem is seen as a threat to Philippines livelihoods due to a higher level of reliance on reefs. In coral reefs, there exists a feeding consanguinity between various organisms. The relationship helps in the transfer of energy from one level to another (Rose, 2009). A reef in a normal surround ensures stability and sustenance of these organisms. In the lower level of the reef are the producers. These ensure there is a creation of food for other organisms up in the system. There are a number of producers in the coral reef ecosystems. The most common are phytoplankton, alga e, and species of seaweed (Rose, 2009). However, the major producer in the system is the phytoplankton (Rose, 2009). The organisms at this point in time live in close association with the corals. Hence, they contribute to the make up of the reefs.Consumers occupy the second level (Rose, 2009). However, the consumers are divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary. The first level in this stage is occupied by primary consumers (Rose, 2009). The consumers at this level are herbivores (Rose, 2009). Some of the major herbivores in the marine environment include zooplankton, gutless larvae, benthic grazers, sea urchins, some corals and crabs as well as green sea turtles and herbivorous fish (Rose, 2009). However, the most abundant consumers at this stage are zooplankton (Rose, 2009). However, the feeding mechanism of creatures at this level varies. For example, the benzic grazers and some coral species adopt a different mechanism in which they feed through filtration (Rose, 2009). Th e work of feeding helps them to filter phytoplankton out of the water. Other creatures eat algae and seaweed directly. The

Psychology - Essay Exampleeeling and 1ehaviour of individuals are influenced by the actual, imagined or implied presence of other human beings. In other words, the concept itself talks about the mindset of a crowd of people living in a breachicular environment, brought up in a particular expressive style and dealing with everyday situations the way that they feel best, however, at the same time, their thoughts may not be compatible with people belonging to a different society. The main aim of this subject is to understand unhomogeneous topics like well-disposed behaviour, individual conformity to a group of peers, as well as emotions that one experiences like aggression or prejudice towards something.Understanding social interaction is very important because it forms the basis of human relationships only when one is able to understand the thinking of another will he be able to act in an appealing manner to be accepted by that person. This is a subject that is prevalent in all st reams and aspects of the world may it be education, work or a personal life, it is pertinent to understand social behaviour in order to comprehend the social psyche of an individual and act in a befitting manner. It cuts crosswise all other subjects especially other disciplines of sociology itself because it aims to decipher peoples notions and apply it to daily living. The interesting thing about this subject is that it focuses not on a particular individual and his characteristics or traits but on a group of such people and their collective behaviour while being part of a bigger picture and being caught in a different situation. People often manipulate their emotions and conduct in order to fit into various situations and feel comfortable in various circumstances and and then this subject assists in breaking down the psyche of an individual with respect to the entire social surrounding or setting and finding out where he or she may be going wrong with respect to their own identiti es.Social psychologists thus focus on situations that

Why was William successful Essay Example for Free
Why was William successful EssayWhen William was crowned King of England he had actually altogether captured the south-east. The rest of England was all still Anglo-Saxon. In 1066/1067 William, according to the Normans was the legitimate King of England. He had got Edward the Confessors promise that he would be King. He also had a affinity with Edward, which made it that much easier to become King. It didnt hurt Williams cause when Harold apparently usurped the throne and took it for him ego it gave William a legitimate reason for invading. Then after William had gained control of the Southeast the rulers of England submitted to him at Little Berkhamstead. Then they allowed him to be crowned King of England with an Anglo-Saxon Service. This shows their acceptance of William as their King. BUT William had made a mistake. He assumed that erst he had been crowned King everyone would follow him as their King. William had not gone West of Faringdon and North of Bedford. It just s o happened that the remainder of Harolds family was in the West and Edwin and Morcar (the Union Earls) who were in the North. Both of these groups had not really submitted to William as their king and were willing to start a rebellion to stop William becoming even more powerful. The rebellions started because when William went cover to Normandy. He had to leave regents in his maculation to rule for him. He chose Bishop Odo and William fitzOsbern. These two people were kinsmen of Williams and so he knew that he could trust tem. But according to Oderic Vitalis behaved in a violent and cruel fashion and so because of the violent and cruel fashion in which they behaved rebellions started to spring up. The front rebellion was in Exeter and involved Harolds family. This is the first time that William shows his policies for rebelling once morest him.William reacts decisively and with great force. He marches to Exeter, building castles along the way. When he got to Exeter he brings out a hostage and blinds him in front of the walls so that everyone could see it. Then he lays siege to the city. After 18 days the city submits. All William does is to build a castle in the city its self and garrison it. This is Williamss policy He will act with violence (the blinding of the hostage) and he will build castles. The violence scares the people and the castles ensure that the area more or less them is secure. So far William has been successful against the rebellions against him because he has got superior technology (castles which the Anglo-Saxons have not come up against before) and because he has acted decisively and with violence. He has scared the familiar people that he has come up against so much that they will not do it again. 1068 was a far more serious year for William. This took place in the Earldoms of Mercia and Northumbria. Edwin and Morcar decided that they had had enough of William and that they were going to join the Welsh. William once again marches up a s fast as he could, only filet off to build castles. The key one being at Warwick which he entrusted to Henry of Bomont. Initially he manages to make peace with Edwin and Morcar, and he pardons the Earls. Whilst all this has been incident Edgar ? thling had deserted William and had gone to Scotland. Once in Scotland he persuades the King, Malcome, to marry his sister and so joining them together. The Northumbrians with the Scots seize York. So William once again sets off, again building castles wherever he goes. William then marches on York and captures it. The only thing that he does is to build a castle in York its self. There were some more rebellions on 1068, and all of these William squashed and then built castles all over the area, thus making sure that all the problem parts of England were cover with Castles. William seemed obsessed by the idea of covering the face of England with castles. That also coupled with the face that he took charge personally were ever he could and got to the heart of the rebellion as quickly as possible meant that there was not really too much damage. The rebellions of 1067 1072 failed, in my view, because of the fact that they were all so spur of the event and so dispersed form one another. If they had joined up together and planned together, then they might have had a chance. Especially of they had joined up with the Vikings that came and invaded in 1069. The Vikings gave William the most trouble, but because William already had a series of castle sin place all over the country it wasnt as bad as it could have been. William completely destroyed the area around York, so that the Vikings and his other enemies could not make use of it. He destroyed them so badly that the effectuate were still apparent in the Doomsday book, written many years later.Williamss ferocious suppression of the north of England in 1069 1070 in response to the English and Norse resistance is often regarded as the darkest deed in his reign. William eventually had to pay the Danes to go away so that William could deal with the English rebels him self. So William was successful against the rebels in 1067 1072 purely because he was more ruthless than they were and because he had access to greater technology, mainly castles building. William terrorised the English so much that they didnt dare rebel again.
